Day 14 – Towards Rapa Nui
Remote even by island standards, Rapa Nui feels truly unlike anywhere else in Chile. The 5-hour flight takes you so far back towards Australia, even the time zone changes! Together, the volcanic hills, grassy coastlines and towering sacred stone figures fill this place with mystery and intrigue.
Your local guide is on hand to help you settle into your hotel. Take things slow for the rest of the day. The island moves at its own pace, and there’s no rush to do anything except enjoy being here.
Accommodation: Ohana Hotel (or similar), Rapa Nui
Included: Breakfast

Day 15 – Exploring Rapa Nui
Across Rapa Nui, enormous moai statues stand facing inland, each connected to ancient ceremonial platforms and the communities that once thrived here. As you travel between sacred sites, volcanic landscapes and coastal viewpoints, your guide will let you in on the history, beliefs and unanswered questions that still surround the island today.
The scenery itself is just as compelling as the archaeology. Rolling green hills meet the Pacific Ocean, where waves crash beneath ever-changing skies. It’s easy to see why Rapa Nui continues to hold such a sense of mystery.
Accommodation: Ohana Hotel (or similar) Rapa Nui
Included: Breakfast

Day 16 – Orongo and Ahu Akivi
For your final adventure, you’re headed into Orongo, a ceremonial village perched dramatically above the Rano Kau crater.
The site was once central to the Birdman cult, an important part of Rapa Nui’s later history and spiritual traditions. Standing on the crater edge overlooking the ocean, you can begin to imagine how this place became the centre of such spiritual significance.
Later in the afternoon, continue to Ahu Akivi, one of the island’s most iconic moai platforms. Unlike many other statues on Rapa Nui, the seven moai here face out toward the ocean. This is one of the island’s most recognisable scenes and you’ll be forgiven for photographing it prolifically just like all who have travelled here before you did.
It’s a fitting final day before returning to mainland Chile tomorrow. Make the most of it, then come together with your Patchie mates for dinner – one last hurrah to your time in Chile!
Accommodation: Ohana Hotel (or similar), Rapa Nui
Included: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 17 – Adiós, Chile
It’s time for one final touchdown in Santiago before you continue on your journey home.
After weeks spent crossing deserts, mountains, fjords and remote islands, Chile leaves behind the kind of memories that stay vivid long after you’ve unpacked your bags.
From stargazing in the Atacama to standing beside glaciers in Patagonia and walking among the moai of Rapa Nui, this journey has taken you through some of South America’s most extraordinary landscapes.
Tired, happy and probably already scrolling through your photos at the airport, it’s finally time to say adiós… for now.
